WELCOME TO THE NEW WEBSITE!

Presidents Messagec

We have updated our website as part of revamping our chapter. We will start emailing our members to inform about upcoming events.

We realize that Industrial Engineers work in every facet of the industry and economy, be it engineering, manufacturing, services, supply chain, retail, distribution, healthcare, entertainment, safety & logistics to name a few. Industrial Engineers do not sit in ivory towers nor do they just build castles in the air. They are doers and implementers. They fix and improve what they come across that leads to better, safer and more efficient products and services for everyone. We believe IEs should get to meet and know people in as many other fields as possible. This will enrich the experiences of all and lead to more synergies.

With this in mind we will look to partner with other organizations in the manufacturing, operations and services field. As a start, we have partnered with APICS- Los Angeles (lapics.org). This is one of the most established chapters of APICS, The Association for Operations Management. We will co-host events with the chapter. This will help us provide more value to our members and extend an opportunity to expand professional relationship connections.

We are also looking to arrange facilities tours for our members and will highly appreciate any suggestions or contacts our members can help us with.

With the rising cost of running a chapter and its activities on one hand and limited sources of finance on the other, we are also interested in individuals and parties interested in helping us defray our costs by offering a company meeting room for professional events or helping with the website upkeep amongst others.

Please feel free to contact me at hihaideri@yahoo.com.

Thank you & stay tunedc..

IIE National News
Members vote to retain current name of Institute IIE election results are in, and IIE members have voted not to change the name of the association from the Institute of Industrial Engineers to the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers.

"The Board of Trustees and members of the Institute are to be commended for resolving this issue that has been debated for many years," said IIE Executive Director Don Greene. "With this vote, the members have affirmed the breadth of industrial engineering. Although our profession undoubtedly encompasses a systems approach, it isn't necessary to communicate the broad reach that IE has through our name alone. Instead, industrial engineers around the world express who we are and what we do through our accomplishments. Particularly in our current economy, organizations are looking to industrial engineers to positively impact productivity and efficiency. Now is the time for IEs to step forward and make a difference."
